I got to work at 7:45 this morning. It is now 8:25 at night. There were no software issues.
Still, it wasn't a total waste. I did get a chance to type this up:
SUPER Brave Dragon Taunting Style 2 TURBO
This is the Exalted Second Edition conversion of “Brave Dragon Taunting Style”, originally created by Ikselam. Updated without permission.
In addition to updating the Charms, I also fixed some typos and naming inconsistencies. I’m sure I added some as well.
The orginal, First Edition version of the style can be found here:
http://exalted.xi.co.nz/wiki/wiki.pl?MartialArts/BraveDragonStyleI did not convert Courageous Self-Sacrifice Method, as I felt it did not fit the theme.
Puissant Taunting Pose
Cost: 1m per target; Mins: Martial Arts 2, Essence 1; Type: Supplemental
Keywords: Combo Ok, Compulsion
Duration: Instant
Prerequisite Charms: None
The martial artist adopts a contemptuous pose, shouting out insults and making rude gestures in an attempt to goad his opponent into attacking blindly. This Charm is an Unnatural Mental Attack. If successful, the target is compelled to attack the character on his next action.
Rolling Taunt
Cost: 2m; Mins: Martial Arts 3, Essence 2; Type: Reflexive (Step 2)
Keywords: Combo-Ok, Crippling
Duration: Instant
Prerequisite Charms: Puissant Taunting Pose
The martial artist utilizes a special technique to roll away from enemy blows, then immediately springs back to her feet and taunts. The frustration of constantly missing somebody who's rolling around like a clown can drive even the most skilled warrior to distraction. If the attack fails, the opponent suffers a -1 internal penalty to all dice pools (but not calculated values) for a number of turns equal to the Exalt's Charisma. Multiple uses of this Charm against the same target are not cumulative, though the duration is extended if necessary.
This Charm is explicitly permitted to augment Charms for other abilities.
Contemptuous Taunting Strike
Cost: 2m; Mins: Martial Arts 3, Essence 2; Type: Supplemental
Keywords: Combo-Basic, Crippling
Duration: Instant
Prerequisite Charms: Puissant Taunting Pose
Nothing is more demoralizing than realizing that an attacker has a clear shot, but chooses not to hit. Using this technique, the Exalt strikes with uncanny speed and accuracy. However, he pulls his punch (or other attack) at the last moment, instead doing something humiliating like tweaking the target's nose, lightly slapping her bottom, or tickling her.
A Martial Arts attack made with Contemptuous Taunting Strike adds a number of automatic successes equal to the Exalt’s Essence. However, it does no damage and has no other special effects (in the case of throws, holds, etc). Instead, the target receives a dice pool penalty equal to the Exalt's Charisma on all offensive actions she makes against the Exalt during the next turn. Victims of this attack suffer no penalties to defensive actions, or actions taken against anyone besides the Exalt who used Contemptuous Taunting Strike.
Brave Dragon Form
Cost: 5m; Mins: Martial Arts 4, Essence 2; Type: Simple
Keywords: Form-Type
Duration: Instant
Prerequisite Charms: Rolling Taunt, Contemptuous Taunting Strike
The martial artist infuses himself with indomitable taunting spirit, leaping and rolling around madly while shouting a continuous stream of taunts. All his attacks suffer a -1 internal penalty while this form is active, but he receives an automatic success on any Charisma or Valor rolls. He may also add his Charisma to any Martial Arts Parry - it's difficult for enemies to take him seriously while he's capering like an idiot. Finally, he adds his Martial Arts to all taunt rolls made while in this form, including taunts made using Brave Dragon Taunting Style Charms such as Puissant Taunting Strike.
Dragon-Wind Fist
Cost: 3m; Mins: Martial Arts 4, Essence 2; Type: Simple (Speed 4)
Keywords: Combo-Basic, Holy, Obvious
Duration: Instant
Prerequisite Charms: Brave Dragon Form
The Exalt focuses her Essence and hurls it from her hands in the form of a mighty ball of pulsating energy. At least, that's the idea. The reality is a weak puffball that fizzles out after only a short distance. The Exalt makes a Ranged Martial Arts attack with her normal dice pool, with a range of up to her permanent Essence in yards. If it hits, it does bashing damage equal to the Exalt's Valor, plus one additional point of raw damage for every two extra successes on the accuracy roll (round down).
Concentration-Disrupting Taunting Technique
Cost: 5m; Mins: Martial Arts 5, Essence 3; Type: Supplemental
Keywords: Combo-Ok, Compulsion
Duration: Instant
Prerequisite Charms: Brave Dragon Form
The martial artist can use carefully chosen insults and ridiculous posturing to distract and annoy his opponents, sapping their will to fight. It is especially effective against other martial artists, as it may render them unable to maintain a coherent form.
The Exalt supplements a Taunt, creating an Unnatural Mental Attack. If successful, the target loses a point of willpower. Additionally, if the target is currently in a Martial Arts Form, he suffers a compulsion to immediately end the form.
Spirit Strengthening Taunt Technique
Cost: 1m; Mins: Martial Arts 5, Essence 2; Type: Supplemental
Keywords: Combo-Ok
Duration: Instant
Prerequisite Charms: Brave Dragon Form
A true warrior does not fear her enemies, gaining strength every time she leaves herself vulnerable to attack by taunting them. This Charm can only supplement a taunt action. Each time it is used, the Exalt rolls her Valor and regains one mote for each success.
No combination of Charms allows an Exalt to gain more than 20 motes in a single turn.
Leaping Dragon Fist
Cost: 4m; Mins: Martial Arts 5, Essence 3; Type: Supplemental
Keywords: Combo-Basic, Knockback, Obvious
Duration: Instant
Prerequisite Charms: Dragon Wind Fist
The martial artist once again focuses her Essence, but instead of trying to project it, she uses it to propel herself upward in a leaping uppercut. She makes a Martial Arts attack as normal, but adds her Valor to raw damage. If the attack lands, it also knocks the target back a number of yards equal to the character’s Essence.
Legendary Taunt
Cost: 4m, 1wp; Mins: Martial Arts 5, Essence 3; Type: Supplemental
Keywords: Combo-Ok, Crippling
Duration: Instant
Prerequisite Charms: Concentration-Disrupting Taunting Technique
A true master of Brave Dragon Style can unleash taunts of such power that they leave enemies reeling, stunned by the Exalt's charismatic heckling... or possibly just shocked into immobility by how ridiculous he looks. Either way, the effects are pretty much the same. This Charm supplements a taunt and is an Unnatural Mental Attack. Each success above the target’s MDV imposes a –1 internal penalty to all dice pools for a number of turns equal to the Exalt’s Charisma. The target may ignore the penalty for one turn by spending a point of willpower to resist.
Multiple applications of Legendary Taunt Technique do not stack their penalties, but each must be resisted independently.
Certain Victory Relying on No One But Myself Strike
Cost: 6m, 1 wp; Mins: Martial Arts 5, Essence 4; Type: Simple (Speed 3, -1 DV)
Keywords: Combo-Basic, Knockback, Obvious
Duration: Instant
Prerequisite Charms: Spirit Strengthening Taunt, Legendary Taunt, Leaping Dragon Fist
The martial artist summons up her indomitable warrior spirit, attacking her opponents with every iota of strength she has. When this Charm is activated, he may perform a supernatural flurry with a number of attacks equal to the Exalt’s Valor at an improved speed, with the DV penalty for making a single attack.
