Looking for DnD Game
« on: September 29, 2010, 06:58:52 PM »
I have been gaming for a couple years now, but have never played Dungeons and Dragons (most of it was L5R and Old WoD tabletop). I am familiar with the system for DnD from games like Neverwinter and KotOR, and really don't mind if it is 3.5 or 4.0, as long as the story is good and the world fun.

I am down for any of those. I have the books for old wod, Vamp and mage. and DnD 4 books. problem with dnd is that for that edition you really need a group of 4 players at least. so we'd need 3 other people to play.

Are you down for GMing or just playing? Finding a GM seems to be the tough part.

Um, its a matter of classwork getting in the way. To make a good game it takes some spare time, haven't had a lot of that since I got here.

I have a pretty free schedule, a wealth of world materials, and a love of system reference documents for 3.5, so if you need a D&D GM, I would be more than happy. Also, of course, available as an adventurer.

I try and do something other than the standard Anglicized High-fantasy to mix it up. Another thing I am big on is tweaking weapon/armor stats slightly to reflect more realistic technology and physiology.

How does the Mediterranean, originating from the Aegean sound? I like Bronze age tech, Classical mythology, and sea-faring games a lot, but really any local and time line works. Another one I am big on is South American - Inca/Aztec conflict, but that's a little harder for some people to flow with.

I'd like to be part of a DND game if a group does get assembled. I think there are enough people creating and replying to "looking for DND game" threads to make a group. If someone who doesn't mind DM-ing asks for people to commit and sets up a meeting to create characters I think the proverbial ball would start rollint.  :P

Introductions are usually important and a few games to make a connection with the people, I mean if you like knowing who you are playing with. But I like the idea of sea faring adventures, only problem with the theme is the game has a terrible lack of a lot of good sea faring classes. I just left a campaign with a captain and making a good captain character is a joke, there just isn't a good way to do it in group play. But I am up for anything I can work into my schedule.

@ Sovietsnowball: It would be much obliged if you could GM; because that would mean we could get a group of 4-5 and get right into it. I see other replies in the thread from people interested, and I also have a couple friends who may be interested. I am free to play on weekends and most weeknights, depending on homework load and the amount of studying I need to put in.

Edit: Also, I'm open to other realities with the DnD system, but would prefer a loosely regular DnD based world for my first time playing. I am one to believe in the many over the few, so if every other player wants something different, I'm game.

awesome, then we supposedly have a group. I dunno what the standard is, but after I meet everyone I have a space for 4 or 5 ppl to play at my place on campus incase the classroom idea becomes a hassle.

If we are all going to the meeting tomorrow, we can discuss things there. I met Snowball at Capcon today, but the rest of you, I haven't the foggiest. Here's a link to my Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/?ref=home#!/profile.php?id=1010624892 .

According to the message from the group on Facebook, it’s today in Central Classroom 209 from noon until 4:00 PM.

The meeting for tomorrow (October 3, 2010) is finally confirmed. It will go from noon until four in room 209 of the Central Classroom Building. If you can only make one meeting this quarter, I encourage you to attend this one.

Also, Cap City ConCapcon. Seeing it called Capcon makes this old timer :(. ;)

Advocate, the group decided we would meet at the Pochi Tea Station on High Street from 4-9pm on Sundays (but obviously not today). Just be there next Sunday with a good character premise. We are also playing in a two class style (I.e. I am a rogue-bard) which is different from multi-classing.
