Summer Gaming
« on: June 19, 2010, 06:42:26 PM »
Hi everyone!  I'm a new grad student and I just found this group.  I was wondering if there was anyone around in the summer for gaming?  I'd really like to get a Dark Heresy or Rogue Trader game, but would also love a D&D 3.5 game as well, really just looking to meet people.

I don’t know what the other groups are up to, but I’ll be starting up a Pathfinder game towards the end of summer.

The subforum is here, and discussion of some of the things I’d like to do starts here.

I've never played pathfinder and no absolutely nothing about the setting.  Kicking myself especially because I was a Dragon magazine subscriber for years.

Pathfinder is basically a mildly revised 3.5e. I don’t think it’s compatible enough that one could run it with only 3.5e experience, but it’s close enough that most 3.5e players should be able play with only an introduction to the major changes.

The campaign setting is a pretty typical D&D-ish fantasy setting. I’m only lightly familiar with it (from the Pathfinder Wiki) since I’m waiting on the new release of the book to come out in the fall. I’ve been running Paizo’s adventure paths, so there’s not been a need to be deeply familiar with the setting (and there are generally supplements available for the regions the APs deal with).

In the mean time, I will be running an L5R game every Saturday until Labor Day. Brand new rules edition just came out, so no experience required.

That sounds perfect.  I'm going to Origins this week so I wouldn't be able to start this Saturday, but every other Saturday should be good.
