The DM of the last RPG group I was in posted a log of what happened in gaming sessions, and I thought I'd bring that here:
Having newly acquired a mysterious map at the ending of last session, which has no option other than to be a map leading to untold of quantities of glorious treasure, the players set out to find the target smudge in a group of mountains to the south.
Meanwhile, in a bar, a fight (over what was TBA) was coming to an end featuring exceptional flurries of steel being wielded in such a way that caused the dancing steel clangers to gape with envious appreciation. Sensing the benefit such a well-trained fighter could bring to the party, Agen recruited the member for the group, bonding over a love of fighting and general who-cares attitude towards money (what's that?). Auska joins the party for whatever adventure they may persue.
What a journey the southern excursion would have been, except luckily Randy, one of the richer party members, checked his backyard and found that he owned a yacht that could be used to get there in a fraction of the time. Not to be one-upped, Siaobhan, another rich member of the group immediately acquisistioned a second ship.
At the mouth of the river, Randy led the heroes in giving the townsfolk they encountered such a performance they couldn't stand it anymore, and the heroes pressed on, into the ocean.
Halfway into the ocean voyage, a great storm built up to torment the travellers. Randy's interpretive dances did nothing to appease whatever gods or demons in chargse of the storm, who immediately punished the ship where the dance took place. The ship was given a broken mast and lots of water onboard, which is bad for sailing.
Unfortunately lots of water is bad for horses, too. Li attempted to save her friends the horses, but was taken in by calamity and would have drowned, except Auska showed an amazing feat of strength, freeing Li and her horses from the hold.
The ship was still sinking, however, and so the heroes bailed the ship and headed for their spare vessel, sailing alongside. Only one of Li's horses could be led of the ship before it sank; the rest were sadly left behind.
The second ship was also (not surprisingly) battered from the storm, and so the adventurers had to stop by a local island to repair the mast. The islanders were sad, poor, hungry souls, which didnt affect the adventurers, who didn't care. Siaobhan led the hunt for wood, having studied all about trees and lumber in his spare time before adventuring. He picked out a lovely tree, which was chopped down and turned into something useful - a new mast! The journey continued.
The party made it to their target location with no more interference, only to find that they were unaware of how big the smudge on the map actually was, and how much ground it covered. They found a local sherpa-guide and convinced him to lead the party to the most interesting place in the region for a paltry sum.
The guide knew of one place no sane person would want to go and led them there. The adventureres thus came upon a mysteriously black mountain in the middle of a valley.
They were immediately attacked by giant spiders, which were easily dispached but poisoned Randy and a horse before being subdued. Siaobhan had studied medicine from books, and was happy to finally get a chance to try out all he read about, so immediately began sucking the poison from the wounds. He was not able to save the horse, however, and it was properly disposed of.
The sherpa would take the adventurers no further, knowing that evil is an omen best left unturned, so the party went on their own to explore the black mountain.
This log is obviously unfinished... the events inside the black mountain were quite twisty and confusing to me. Post the last events of the session if you recall them correctly...
Also, I didn't intentionally make mistakes, but probably did. Correct anything that is glaringly wrong.
