Setting Discussion
« on: January 27, 2010, 03:14:02 AM »
I was going to post a bunch of setting stuff, but Paizo did it for me.

The campaign will start on Starday 13 Aroden 4709. Followers of Iomedea (and Aroden) should note that Armasse is coming up on 16 Aroden. There will be a full moon this weekend.

So would I be correct in assuming that the "players guide" is allowable reading for players?

okay. I opened my download (went ahead and started after asking, since it is free and all).

Wow. So the adventure path is largely based in a Lawful Evil metropolis, run by Nobility loyal to Asmodeus.

They stole my character concept. I'd better get to posting it then.

One thing I would like to note is that player characters who are sympathetic to the ruling class are not going to work in this AP. Everyone who makes a character will be asked what problem (or problems) they have with the government when they make their characters.

I’ll post specifically what you will be asked in a little bit.

I just looked it up, and you will be asked how you have been stiffled, annoyed, or hindered by the government. If you take one of the Council of Thieves-specific traits, your complaint is built in as part of the trait.

Any recommendations on Languages/ the player's guide is rather mum on that topic.

I mean, infernal is a given, but I had that already.
If you’re looking for ideas, see the languages section on the PathfinderWiki.

Taldane (aka common) is the primary spoken language in Cheliax. I would expect infernal to be spoken mostly by those who interact frequently with devils and not by the average person. I suppose, in a sense, that makes it a lot like latin.

I've got common and elven, cause I'm an elf. I've got Celestial and Draconic cause I'm a wizard. I've got Goblin and infernal because of my background (which I am seriously going to post as soon as I stop being weird about it). That's my intelligence and racial languages, which leaves one from Linguistics.

I suppose I could just take an elemental language.

I picked up Cheliax, Empire of Devils today. It helps flesh out the region a bit more, and it really clarifies how non-Asmodian clerics work.

I really wish Paizo would publish a Pathfinder-updated version of the Pathfinder Chronicles: Campaign Setting. I just know that the moment I buy the OGL version that they would release an updated Pathfinder one.

I updated the opening post with the magic items that are available in Westcrown. I’ll be checking availability at the start of every month.
