Adventure Recaps
« on: November 13, 2009, 01:10:57 PM »
While attending a feast celebrating their last adventure, the party learned that they had to go west to Overlook to stop an orc invasion. There they sacked an evil church and learned that WRATHGAR’s reputation precedes him.

The party went to the monastery, and most of the dwarves were dead. They killed the orcs there, but they all almost died in the last encounter. Also, belly-bows are apparently real.

WRATHGAR was out with food poisoning. (It's Monday, and I'm STILL sore all over - was not fun)

Also, belly-bows are apparently real.

That doesn't really say why they were called belly bows.  I found the next quote on a message board thread about catapult artisans:

Quote
The earliest Greek catapult was the "belly bow" - a large bow mounted on a case, one end of which rested on the belly of the person using it. Later the weapon was enlarged and a winch pull-back system added.

... wait, never mind, the Wikipedia article does have that info.  It was just not apparent at first glance.

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT

Please do not go to the official D&D web site. There’s a huge fucking spoiler for this adventure path up there right now, and I’d rather not have that be spoiled. If people think I’m joking or trying to entice people to go to the site, I’m not.

That's annoying.  do you see any activity on their forums from people asking them to take it down?

There are some complaints about it.

We’re lucky that most people in our group don’t visit the main D&D site very much, unlike some people who are reporting that their players saw it before they did. It’s a pretty significant development, so having that happen would suck rather badly.

clearly, the half-dragon general from the "Red Hand of Doom" comes back as a lich and rides Tiamat into battle.

After that last smackdown, Balasar has decided to wear armor.  It will be silver dragonscale leather armor with a purple Platinum Dragon logo emblazoned on the front, to complement the already mentioned robe.  A similar cloak is in the works.  All three will have the "impressively clean" enchantment on them, which makes them shiny and clean with no game mechanics effect.

Kalad told everyone to go to the Nexus to push the button that stops the orcs. The party found lots of corpses and fought a troll. They fought a lot of minions and eventually sealed the Nexus, but at a great cost (they destroyed the console in the process). They exited the Nexus through the convienent hatch right by the gate to Bordrin’s Watch. Everyone hates dwarfs now.

The party is officially for overthrowing the "we build up" dwarf council of Bordin's Watch.

We are prepared to permit an orc invasion of said city if that's what it takes, but really, we should be able to incite a riot after saving the place another two or three times.

Seriously, we've been against these psychos since the beginning, and now with the nexus trap door incident, we are out for blood.

Chalk has made an oath to save the council from their current predicament, so until he sees progress made on that front he won't help you in any plot to overthrow them.
You shouldn't blame these dwarfs for simply following their nature, even though it's a little unorthodox.  What would Wrathgar! do if people blamed him for following his?

To be fair, they did pay you 2,000 gold coins for saving Kalad from the monastery and sealing the Nexus.

Rumor has it that the contractors who built the Nexus are being investigated for their ties to elephant sympathizers.

P.S. For anyone wondering why dwarves were enslaved by elephants, read this.

I like the Dwarf Fortress references, but it only drives home the point that these guys are insane.

Chalk apparently brought the corpse of the dark creeper with him out of the nexus. The party took it to the creepy man in the tower who offered to stuff it for a fee. Chalk crammed it in a mail slot, and all was good-ish.

They asked around about the creepers, got into a fight with some goons in an alley, and eventually ended up in an establishment run by paladins. In the basement, there was a portal to the Shadowfell. Hijinx ensued, and they went through it.

During most of this, WRATHGAR was impressing the crowd by bench-pressing boulders. With his dick.
