Please tell me that's not intended as a plus for his books. That Sci-Fi soap opera could be good, but is too... soap-opera.
Heh. He's actually on board to keep a lot of the hard science as close to what it should be. He's not writing it, just consulting. Creative control is kept with the show writers and runners.

Trust me, he doesn't do soap opera in his books.

It went to 9:30. I managed to fit a game of Charades and a game of Pictonary into D&D, and everyone thought it was hillarious (and work).

Basically, they were trying to communicated with a computer from an alien civilization.

Heh. Sounds a lot of fun. Wish I'd been able to get to it, but working to 8pm and having family in town meant having to work then get home to pick up my own tribe.

I am champing at the bit to get back to having a gaming group. I think I've gone through about a half dozen bits this week alone...

The party is now stranded on a large paradise planet with the unfortunate problem of lots of large, venomous fauna.

This episode should be titled "Triffids At Disney World" :)

Sometimes I forget I'm over here in the U.S. and that a lot of classic Brit sci-fi doesn't have a lot of exposure. Basically a triffid is a huge plant that spits and blinds people. It's from the John Wyhndam novel Day of the Triffids, which has the Earth being overtaken by these moving, spitting plants. Freaky stuff when you're 10 years old and reading it in the dark.

More info at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triffid.

Ahh, I'm limited to the latter Pertwee and later Dr. Who, and a bit of Blake 7 for sci-fi.

Otherwise, my knowledge is limited to a few shows on BBC America.

I am a HUGE Blake's 7 nerd. My second all-time favorite British sci-fi show, preceded by Doctor Who. I've always wanted to run a game set in the B7 universe.

There's a Day of the Triffids TV series from the BBC, as well as The Tripods by John Christopher. Both are fantastic adaptations of the books. They're hard to come by, but if you look for them online you'll probably find them. Well worth watching.

Hard to come by, but it can be purchased for import IIRC.

It's getting a reboot on Sky One, to try and emulate the success of Battlestar Galactica. More info here: http://entertainment.timesonline.co.uk/tol/arts_and_entertainment/tv_and_radio/article3808838.ece

I might try a game some weekday day next week, after everyone has finished finals (or at least, the finals they are worried about), would you be able to make it then?

yeah, sorry about the bad times this quarter - it's hard to play in fall except on weekdays, I've found.

Want me to make up a char for you, so you can pop in? Any particular race/theme?
