HPB on Lane, North High, and Bethel do not have either. The only game store in columbus that *might* is The Soldiery, and I cannot in good conscience recommend people buy anything from that store (as anti-piracy as I normally am, I'd rather see someone show up with a laptop and a PDF).
Is that the B5 in the big books? I was wondering how that game would play, saw the books at The Guard Tower, and it looked interesting.
If you meant the one by Mongoose for d20, then yes. I've also got a copy of The Babylon Project from years back. Every now and again I find myself coming back to B5. Damn fine sci-fi. Although I'm pissed at JMS because he didn't go further than the second series of Jeremiah (which is a fine setting to play in as well).
I don't get to either the Soldiery or Guardtower as much these days as I like to. I avoid the other one off 161, Ravenstone Games. The few times I've been in there I've felt like I'm invading some sort of secret club; it's darn cold when you go there. You expect to at least be greated when you walk in, especially if you walk in with two kids that are 8-10, talking about some stuff that you're looking for that you want to buy. Needless to say, I didn't buy from there.
Might have to end up getting those online. I've been really grabbing stuff on clearance at HPB lately because the stuff that's been landing there has been OOP print stuff that I used to have or have been meaning to collect.
I'd also suggest a legislative branch style of election similar to Germany, and an executive election style similar to France...
That would work pretty damn nicely, although you still run into issues of one group possibly claiming control of the majority through allegiances and behind-scenes-chicanery. Ah. I love the smell of politics in the morning. Mostly cos my sinuses are clogged and I can't smell it.
I've read a lot of heavily-science based authors (Alistair Reynolds was an ESA astronomer, and his writings are technically fairly sound, when not considering biology). It's his descriptive style I think.
Niven would be a *LOT* better if he ditched the lame, gratuitous sex scenes. At least, unlike Piers Anthony, they don't involve children... But I digress.
What was your major, just out of curiosity?
They say that people should write what they know, but some people like to write what they don't know and can't get.
I was running low and about to start on Pratchet and Vonnegut... I'll at Scalzi to the list. I don't have any of those readers, and have no interest in buying any of them (well, PC, but I usually read on the bus). However... Abount the only thing I haven't been able to find here is Asimov's Universe.
Scalzi does throw in some sex at the beginning of O
ld Man's War, but there's a sound reason for it. Scalzi's also a creative consultant on the new Stargate: Universe series.
I think I was 8 years old when a neighbor introduced me to the
Foundation series. It was he that got me really started in sci-fi and he kept recommending books to me. I ended up moving away and lost contact with him, but we eventually met again through another friend who was in my RPG group. It ended up being me recommending stuff for him to read, and I managed to get him hooked on Dune (or at least the first 3 books because after 3 they get a bit dodgy).
