Malachi Folmakson, Human Cleric of Pelor
Malachi was born to a poor family of farmers north and west of Brindol, near the Witchwood. He didn't get along with his parents. They were dedicated farmers, and tried to groom Malachi and his siblings into farmers to care for the farm. Malachi wanted to leave and see the world. One day after an argument with his parents, Malachi decided to leave home. He soon realized that he was being hasty, so he returned to the farm to reconcile with his family. While he was away, the farm was attacked. Malachi returned to the farm to find his parents killed, the farm ruined, and his siblings missing. This was near the beginning of the last war with the hobgoblins.
Malachi decided to join the militia of Brindol to get revenge on the hobgoblins. After the horror of seeing his first battle, Malachi reflected on his motivations. He was not truly driven by revenge, but frustrated because he was unable to resolve the fight with his parents. Malachi decided that he was not called to be a warrior, but rather a healer. He remained in the militia as an Initiate of Pelor. After the conflict ended, the militia began to reduce in size. Malachi took his leave, completed his training, and is ready to spread the mercy of Pelor through the world.
Core Motivation: Malachi wishes to spread the word of Pelor through his good deeds. Also Malachi hopes that someday during his travels he may find his siblings alive.
Description: Malachi is slightly above average height. He is a little thin. His brown hair is straight, and styled in a monkish bowl cut. Malachi bears a holy symbol of Pelor. He wears chainmail on the road, and priestly robes in town. If forced to fight, he bears his symbol in one hand, and a mace in the other.
Personality: Malachi believes that actions speak louder than words. He prefers to show his faith by sharing the mercies of Pelor rather than sharing sermons. He still has a dislike bordering on hatred for hobgoblins and other goblinoids. Malachi still retains hope that one of his siblings may have escaped the slaughter of his family farm, but that hope wanes by the year.
Interrelationships: So far, Malachi enjoys the company of the group that has gathered around his wisdom. He loves the zealous passion that Sir Balasar Silverbreath, Bringer of the Great Age of Dragon Justice and First Knight of Agatas shows. Yet Malachi hopes that Balasar learns to temper his tendancy to rush into things.
As a whole, Malachi fears that the group is overly attached to material goods. He is worried that future adventures may become excuses to extort local towns, rather than crusades to help the people.
