Please note that PCs without posted backgrounds will not be able to regain action points.

I updated the allowed materials list to include Primal Power. I also added a link to where the D&D characters saved. I’ll be adding the Scales of War campaign settings file later.

Now that we effectively are down to three players, I’m thinking that we might want to take on a few followers. Not everyone needs one, but having a few extra companion characters might be helpful.

How about my Eladrin warlord guy?  Do you want to make him as a companion character or a full PC type thing?  Either way would be okay with me.

They’ll just be companion characters. I’ve already talked to Trever about doing one as well, so we should be fine with two. I don’t want them to suck up loot or otherwise steal the spotlight from PCs.

I’m doing companion characters based on information provided by Mike and Trever using the rules described in the DMG2.

One thing I will note is that their stats will not be ‘optimized’. I’m rolling them 2d6+6 in order. If the value of those scores does not add up to a standard point buy, I will boost their primary stat as needed. I plan on using variant of this stat generation method in any future games I run.

First stab at Balasar’s companion is up on my iDisk here in the D&D/Scales of War folder.

Mike, you said you didn’t really like playing the companion character. If you want, he can step back into the background. I don’t think Trever minded having his companion character around (especially since he was treated as a quasi-DM NPC), so we’ll have four regular characters in the party.

It's not that I don't like playing it; it's fine.  If we are going to have companion characters I can certainly run one.  I just don't like the implementation of companion characters that is used in the DMG2 because it only simplifies the part of the character that was already pretty simple.

What other part do you mean? Roleplaying? I don’t think companion characters are intended to be roleplalyed. They exist in the background, kind of like cohorts in 3e.

I picked up the Player’s Handbook 3 and Martial Power 2 today. Kobold monks are totally awesome now. I’m a bit surprised that the assassin isn’t in there, but I guess it wasn’t ever really presented as being PHB3 preview content.
