I like the dragonborn one.

I mentioned this character concept before, and am thinking I would have a lot of fun with it.  Having multiple dragonborn around might turn silly though. What do you think :

Chalk Chagan is an ex-brawler Dragonborn turned Barbarian with the drink and enhancing herbs he turned to for support in his fighting days.  He feels compelled to help out ANYone seeking aid, but may be easily turned from one cause to another.

If I played my dragonborn concept, my character would probably have a lot to say about the way your character leads his life.

oh hell.

I was thinking about playing a Bard or Warlord, and further thinking that Dragonborn would be a good race...

This is just getting silly. I say we embrace it.

We should have an all-dragonborn party!

It's nice that dragonborn can fit well with any sort of defender class, but what about controller?  A warlock is a little more controllery than a sorcerer and a little less strikery, so I guess that would work.  Are there any straight controlling classes that a dragonborn could fit into (even in a flavor sort of way)?

I was alternatively thinking of playing a Druid as I've not looked at that one before, but Chalk Chagan would definitely not be a Druid.  I have not come up with the concept for the Druid character yet.

I'm late to the discussion as usual.

I'm interested in seeing the new campaign material that the insider provides.  It sounds like there's more depth to the scenarios, rather than the module we played which seemed like a dungeon crawl wrapped with a vague plot.

I look forward to trying another class, with a more in depth background and deeper character.  Recently I've been wanting to see some more player interaction.  I didn't feel like our characters had much personality.

Currently, the only idea I have is to look deeper into the healing build cleric.  Someone told me it was NG, but I'd like to look at it a bit more in depth.  If that's not interesting, I'll probably look at a defender.  I liked the feel I had with the Avenger, with a new campaign, its time to try something new.

For what it’s worth, Thomas mentioned that he was thinking of doing a bard.

Trever, the only Defenders available are Fighter, Paladin, and Warden (no Swordmage). If you opt to do a Paladin, I strongly recommend taking prayers out of Divine Power because they fill gaps in the Paladin’s ability to deal with many enemies.

I could do Bard, Warlord, Sorcerer, Wizard, or Warden.

As long as one of those spots is open, I am happy.

Your options cover every role, so I think you should be able to play one of them. :)

WHEE!

Now I need to know which slot I get! Cause there's three other players.

Math is hard.

So Thomas is Bard, which is Leader type.
And there's two Strikers, a Barbarian and a Sorcerer.

Sorcerer has some AoE, and Bard has some controlly stuff. A Wizard and a Warden would let us do mad damage to Minion types.

These are the roles we have, from what people have posted and told me.

  • Striker - Barbarian (Josh)
  • Leader - Bard (Thomas)
  • Leader - Cleric/Healbot (Trever)
  • Striker - Sorcerer (Mike)

A Warden would be a pretty good choice to round out the party. It's primarily a defender but also has controller aspects.

Edit: I think most people are posting over here now that I have a sub-forum for the new campaign.

I would be willing to play a tactical warlord who doesn't do damage directly and doesn't really heal or a gimmicky fighter that uses the polearm momentum/footwork lure combo with a giant spear if neither of my sorcerer ideas ends up working out.

If i was to do the warlord thing, I would need to know that there would be at least two melee characters in the party, at least one of whom would have to be a barbarian or a big weapon fighter.  Otherwise the character would be hilarious, but useless in combat.  With two other leaders, I think it would be super-redundant, though.  As far as the gimmicky fighter goes, I just think that a character whose only purpose is to repeatedly trip enemies would be funny to play.  My first and second choices are still still the skirmisher-sorcerer and the blaster-sorcerer, respectively.
