I'd like to run a second game using the simplified VAR system during the summer. Would anyone be interested? Which game?
Alien Retribution (Cyberpunk + Aliens)
Fantastic Elements: Futuristic tech, aliens, supernatural power
Theme: Environmentalist aliens took over earth because humanity was destroying it. They instituted a hybrid communism/meritocracy government. Starvation was eliminated, but so were a lot of freedoms. People rebelled and threatened the environment, the aliens left. In the rebuilding of human civilization corporations ended up becoming the most powerful organizations, not the government. Every 10 years, humanity votes to keep control of it’s own destiny, or submit to rulership by one of three alien races…
Modern Magic (Modern Fantasy, Good vs. Evil)
Fantastic Elements: Psychic Power, Magic, Divine/Demonic forces
Theme: This world is based on the battling of good and evil forces for control of reality. There are two named realities – Heaven and Hell, as well as infinite or effectively infinite “middle realities”, or Earths. “Gates”, which are fabrics between realities that block crossovers, are between each reality. Both sides have the goal of dropping the gate on it’s side as well as completely blocking the gate of the other side. This will merge the reality with it’s side, increasing it’s strength.
Atlantis (Modern Sci-Fi/Fantasy, Horror/Alternate Realities)
Fantastic Elements: Alternate Realities, Psychic Powers, Advanced Technology
Theme: Based off of Bob Mayer’s “Atlantis” series (pen name Greg Donegan). Aliens called the “Shadow” are trying to steal resources from other realities (water, atmosphere, ozone, psychic energy) to attempt to keep their existence. They destroyed the environment of the earth in their reality, and are trying to keep their world survivable. They were the civilization of Atlantis before destroying their world, and one of their first tasks they did was to stop other realities Atlantis civilizations so that they could take the resources with less difficulty.
