Character sheet
« on: June 17, 2008, 03:48:05 PM »
Here is the character I plan to start with.  I suppose he will be an NPC for the first session.  If you want to use this character sheet (I got it off of the gleemax 4ed forums) make sure to fix the hp and healing surge formulas for your character.  To view the sheet, delete the .txt and open it as an MS Excel spreadsheet.

Doesn't open in Open Office 2.3 either.

Here's what I'll probably use: http://www.polyatomic.org/junk/dw.pdf

Here's what I'll probably use: http://www.polyatomic.org/junk/dw.pdf
Issues and unsolicited advice:
1) Your healing surge size should be 8 hp and not 6 hp (Dragonborn get a bonus to this).
2) Your attack/damage workspaces should say what modifiers you get for a given attack power regardless of your weapon (as in the book).  Your Strength mod usually applies to your damage rolls.
3) Please list your basic attacks.
4) You should pick a hit stat and damage type for your breath weapon.
5) Do you use a longspear, glaive, or both?
6) Please make a magic item wish list, item levels 1-5.

You might consider dropping either Con or Str a little to get some more Int.  Having no Reflex defense makes you quite vulnerable to certain attacks.  Switching to a one-handed weapon + light shield would have a similar effect (+1 AC, +1 Reflex defense).  You have enough money to keep these items with you as a backup.

I have my healing bonus listed in my Race Features, the pdf sheet I'm using automatically calculates the healing surge value and doesn't let me change it, so I'll just note it on the real sheet.

My attacks will be covered by the power cards I'm going to print out, so I'm not worried about that.  I'll have strength as my breath weapon stat, but I haven't decided on the damage type.  I haven't finally decided my weapons either.  I don't have any feats or special abilities that depend on a specific weapon type so I can pretty much use anything.  I did think about a light shield and a longsword, but it seems so boring.

I'll have to look into the magic items, I haven't read them too carefully yet.

Here is the Paladin. I should have the Wizard done some time tomorrow night (just in case we would otherwise end up with three defenders). Let me know if you want me to make up a skill/power worksheet. I did not break down any of the calculations in the stat block because I modeled the sheet after the stat-blocks in the monster manual, liking those more than the regular character sheets.

Edit: I uploaded a new copy of my character sheet with several typos fixed. I would have liked to use the power-type symbols for my powers, but WotC neglected to make the font available.

Edit 2: I will also bring a wish list of magic items on Saturday. I apologize for not having them sooner, but it’s already almost 1:30 AM. :(

Edit 3: I plan on having backgrounds for both characters.

I would like to start between noon and 1PM.  We should be playing at some room in Cockins Hall, but in the future we will be playing in Dreese Labs.  I'll PM you my phone number so that you can call me in the event that you are unable to get in the building.  In the future we are probably going to start around 2:00PM.  A tiefling wizard should be fine, but please come up with a magic item wish list for it (item levels 2-5) and let me know if you plan to write a background for it.  If it turns out we lack a Striker, I will have a ranger or a rogue ready to go to replace my fighter.

Hello Everyone.  I'll be there tomorrow as well.  I don't have the 4E books yet, so will be arriving early to look at others'.  I'll see if I can find an online character generator to get some ideas...
Looks like we have
1) Shamasha (What class?  I couldn't open that file either)
2) Warlord
3) Paladin
4) Wizard

What's missing? Care for fighter or a thinker?

Actually, a ranger or rogue would be ideal.  I know my character would love a high damage dealing melee character like a two weapons ranger or rogue next to him.  A warlock or ranged damage ranger would also be pretty good.

If you post a couple race/class combinations that you would like, I can make up a couple characters tonight that you could choose from tomorrow.

For when I get back to college, here's a Lv1 version of my character. Tried to become a "disabling striker" while still having plenty of options to GTFO if I get in trouble.

Excellent! Now I can finish filling out my Paladin’s background instead of rolling up another character. :) Mike, I’ll add my magic item wish list, work sheet, and background to my post some time tonight. I’ll print these off so you can review them tomorrow before we start.

Background for my character:

Hyune Ouline is a tiefling mage who spends most of his time carousing and living the playboy lifestyle. Comes from an affluent family who spoils him greatly, his demonic heritage manifests as incubus blood. While he enjoys entertaining and being entertained he is "cursed" with too much intelligence. He constantly seeks things to challenge his intellect and break the tedium of high soceity social life. He gets bored rather easily and finds that adventuring and the excitement that comes with that lifestyle, is one of the few things that manage to hold his interest and challenge him. His mother (Sheyuna) and father (Halvaran) are affluent old money that hold a large amount of merchant caste rental property in the city, and dote on him constantly much to his chagrin. His sister (Levanya) is a wealthy proprietress of a Nightclub/brothel/drugden and is also the blacksheep of the family. Hyune has an overinflated sense of self worth and self importance, however he sometimes has a tradgic paladin mentality when it comes to helping out hardluck cases or women in general. Especially his sister who uses this to get him in into all sorts of trouble....

Magic Item wishlist: 1-5

Anything with Plus's, implements (orb), armor etc...
Bags of holding are nice too.
Likes illusionary magic...

Okay, that sounds great!
I think that I can play a Two-sword Ranger Human pretty well.
Another option would be a Brawny-type Rogue Dwarf.
If characters are easy to roll up, that'd be a great help, Thomas.

As far as that goes, could anyone recommend a site for rolling up a 4th edition character?  Or are you all working with the standard character sheet template and the PHB?
What time is anyone coming for those of us (like me) who haven't seen the core books yet? I'd like to come earlier so that I can look at them for a bit before we start.
