Well, given the hopeless failure that an RPG based off of stuffed animals met with... (It was inherently lame, I think.)
...I've decided to tap into inner mecha fan and ended up with the idea of running a d20 Future Zoids campaign, set in the New Century Zero era. Yes, the one with the judge robots, silly Liger conversion kits, and the Pteras pulling the "Voyager Shuttlecraft" role. It seemed open-ended, and last time I checked, giant animal-shaped mechs literally have "What Do You Mean It's Not Awesome!" written all over them.
Of course, there aren't any fancy things like that for some folks on the verge of graduating from the Orton Combat Academy. Your Zoids...well, are sold by "Crazy Eddie's." And your team lacks fancy credentials. On the other hand, you could become anything from ZBC-sanctioned combatants to scavengers to adventuring archaeologists to mercenaries. This scenario probably has schizo tech, ranging from battered minivans that were put together at the start of the Information Age to antigravity-equipped transports, and of course, big mechs with energy weapons that are actually a form of machine life. (You folks only get a Gustav that pulls cargo boxes. Think giant metal wood louse or pillbug with a radar dish on top. And that's only if you join the ZBC, they have to give you one by law until you've bought a base and better transport.)
Since I have to re-stat and balance a lot of stuff and fight painful battles against a wave of confusing (occasionally Engrish) fancruft, not to mention acquire and assemble a few visual aids (hopefully a fancy Shieldie, but that might have to wait until I've put together more of the basic kits)...so I won't have much ready to go until next Saturday. On the other hand, I'll be able to answer a number of questions tomorrow.
