Chapter 1: As a result of the downtime, the MIB learned a few things. First among these is that Lord Luminus may have issues, or he may just be playing along with the spirits. It's hard to tell. Next is that the mages in Youngstown really think that they are helping the area overcome a curse which has sapped much of the life from the Mahoning Valley. They have offered to initiate members of the MIB into the Silver Ladder, the Adamantine Arrow, and maybe the Guardians of the Veil (this order has higher standards than the others). They have also offered up the possibility of trading rotes for favors and/or Mana. The cathedral in the park still hides some secrets, but at least one has been revealed: the cathedral is magically alive. Finally, the MIB mages learned that something fishy is going on with Mr. Whitaker, and that he has plans.
The story started when Rev. Friendly tried to waltz in to a magically protected library. The spells guarding it turned Bill into a prisoner, but he was rescued by a surprise appearance by his old friend and mentor, Ian (or was he?). Ian told Bill that he should lay low for a while: the witches in that library are known to do some suspicious things. For about a day, Bill listened. Then he changed his mind, calling a bunch of libraries and warning whoever was there that mages were on their way to take over the libraries. The MIB was soon on its way to Chicago, to stake out the particular library in which Bill was captured. Entomodon and Charnel decided that it would be a good idea to follow Bill's example and walk into the same trap as him. Only it wasn't the same, because this time the resident mages were lying in wait. Charnel's mind was altered, and Entomodon was sent back to Washington.
The story concluded with Mr. Whitaker (sort of) successfully combining Entomodon with the Prisoner. Skuld knows something about this: she has seen something horrible in her visions, with only the barest hints of how this disaster might be averted (predicting the future of anything related to the Kyle is difficult and insanity-inducing). The only coherent sentence she utters now is "The priest must take his pilgrimage; the sheers must cut the flower", whatever that means.
Players:
Randy as Casper, the Assistant and Apprentice of Lord Luminus (Thyrsus, Spirit)
Rob as Entomodon, the Successfully Suicidal (Dead or something like it)
Thomas as Shortcut, the Leader(?) (Mastigos, Space)
Michael as Charnel, who will never be the same (Moros, Death)
David as Ant, the Telegroper (Obrimos, Forces)
(null) as Skuld, the Prophet (Arcanthus, Time)
Fallout so far:
Casper learned some crap about opening doors and stabbing people.
Entomodon hah
Shortcut learned that a leader should give orders instead of strong suggestions.
Skuld learned that prophecy can take its toll.
Rev. Friendly learned that some public places aren't really public.
Ant learned that over here is a better place to stand than over there.
Charnel learned that it's harder to break in to a library than a graveyard.
Next time: What does that statue have to do with that cathedral? Why did the statue break open like that? Will anyone ever become concerned about the amount of power Major Donner wields in DC? How are the mages in Chicago who control the library related to Whitaker? What's going to happen to all of those artifacts? What will Whitaker do with the MIB now? What will happen to the Colorado sanctum? Just what happened to Kyle, and can it be reversed? What is Skuld babbling about, and what did she talk to those mages in Youngstown about when she went to meet with them alone?
What else did your character learn? Post it here!
