Tips to Ninjary - Where to Point the Sharp End
« on: November 29, 2007, 02:50:48 PM »
Before the list, I will indulge you with something I whipped up.

Now for the point of the topic. This is a helpful list of reminders for nin in the field, in town, or flipping out and killing people.

~Use Your Action Points!
Using an action point adds 1d6 to any d20 roll which can really save your ass. If you really need to down an enemy or you'd rather stabilize at -1, feel free to throw in an action point. You get another batch at next level, and it's expected you only have 1 left from your previous batch. [This is reflected in calculating AP for high-level characters.]

~Chakra Depletion Sucks! Prevent It At All Costs!
If your chakra hits 0 you undergo what's called chakra depletion. DC15 Fortitude save or terribly suck. You then lose half your HP and count as disabled, exhausted, and chakra recovery is halved. You stay that way until you hit 100% chakra again. If you're hanging on 1 chakra, start taking stamina damage using chakra control if you have to use a jutsu.

~Stamina Damage; The Silent Killer!
You take stamina damage whenever you wish to channel a jutsu using life force instead of chakra. This heals at Lv per hour of non-strenuous activity. Ninja can forget about how fast this can pile up and drop due to a stray blow and them being frugal with their chakra.

~Master Jutsu You Use Often!
There are 5 steps of mastery for a technique after just knowing it. Each step above increases the Learn DC by 1 and Step 4 takes 1.5 times as long while Step 5 takes double. You gain a bonus equal to your mastery of the technique to perform it and convert it in addition to mastery minus 1 to make a save against it or dodge it.

~Use Bombs Downtime Wisely!
Downtime can be generally used 4 different ways. Craft items. Learn jutsu. Spend money. Working. The last doesn't sound familiar, because I'm adding it in! If you have 5 days of downtime you can use it to make a Profession check with a DC of your current wealth. Whether you fail or succeed, add 1 to your wealth in addition to any you get from the check. For every 5 you beat the DC, also add 1.

~Carry More Than You Need!
An archer is useless without arrows. The same applies to ninja and their array of ninja weaponry. Don't be afraid to bring backups of key weapons and multiple sets of expendables. The archer that has arrows left lives. The one that runs out gets eaten by bears with lasers attached to them.
